Brain Food…

This semester I also gained some experience as a make-up assistant. From January to May student lead Outer Limit Productions filmed BrainFood. A light-hearted love story with zombie protagonists, the narrative is centred around a company ran by zombies making Brain Food in order to sustain their ‘living dead’ lives. With most of the characters in the film being zombies make-up was heavy and necessary to gain the characters un-living look. All characters had a white base of water activated face paint then each character had individual marking on the face achieved with eyeshadows and black face paint.

The Judas Kiss…

Vlada Nebo, fellow make-up artist on BrainFood also directed a student lead production of ‘The Judas Kiss’. Knowing that I am a costume student she asked if I’d help with costumes for the show. Here I helped make decisions on costumes from the theatre stock at Bedlam Theatre in Edinburgh as well as supplied and made some elements of costume. Here are the photos of the dress rehearsals!

Special thanks to Vlada for the opportunity, it was great working with you on this project as well as BrainFood.

Somnambulist…

Over the past semester, while studying I also worked on some student films. In March myself and friend (and fellow costume student) Lauren Peters worked on student film Somnambulist ( by Butt-in Productions) together. My role was Costume/Production assistant, together we supplied costumes and dressed the sets of various locations for the production.

It was such a good team to work with, I can’t wait to see the final film. Special thanks to Steph Smart for the opportunity! Good luck with future projects Steph!

ECA Fashion Show!…

ECA catwalk show is the peak of the academic year! Being in 3rd year, this meant the class had two pieces of costume work in the show! So our costumes from the ‘Not the End of the World’ project were in the show as well as our ‘Orlando’ costume make. Not only were my costumes in the show, I also modelled for friend and fellow costume student Ruth Rae. It was so much fun being part of it although a little scary to think my 4th year work will be in the show next year (graduation year) but while being overwhelming it also remained very exciting! Rehearsals:

Dress rehearsal/live show:

Special thanks to photos from Andrew Perry, Ruth Rae, Bejoy Sanjeev and Paul Ramsay and also my beautiful models, Joni Chiang (Not the End of the World) and Katie Rutherford (Orlando) who put up with a stressful week of rehearsals and having to deal with a stressed out me too! You did a fantastic job, thank you! 🙂

Orlando…

This was the 2nd project of the year, here we were asked to explore five of the characters, designing and making fabric choices according to the theme we went down for the project. The second half of the project involved the class picking a time period out of a hat and designing and making a costume for the main character Orlando. Due to the change of gender of the character in the play we could chose whether to make a male or female costume. I got the 1930’s so designed and made a 1930’s evening dress.
